So I *could* write about the horrible thing that happened to me that got fixed so it's okay OR I could tell you this story I keep forgetting to tell you.

In the Mandrake, I am systematically working my way through "other tokustasu" while Lisa is in the Arashi section next to me.

Lisa: [shows me one] Who *is* this on the cover?
Me: Um, well that's Aiba and that's.... Who is that?
Me: [Actually reads cover]
Me: Oh, this isn't an Arashi doujin, it's a Shinkenger one! So, like I said, that's Aiba...
Lisa: lololol

Especially because I can just see Nino "accidentally" taking the wrong Aiba with Arashi at the end and Aiba's hilariously outrageous reaction.

And now:

A third post!? And at a time when I am super busy and therefore should probably not be nudging this particular nugget of Cesium with my wet hands? Well, I'm kind of upset and antsy at the moment, and as I've said before, do your worst! And hey, even I'm not always right, so :D

Thoughts from one Yamato Nadeshiko to another )
capncosmo: Clueless (Default)
So, this weekend was exciting! We went Hina-meguri-ing, because as it turns out, the town I live in has a whole thing where basically all the stores put out hina ningyo and you can just wander in and see them. There were some SUPER old ones! And also ones shaped like giant strawberries :Db It was also good for finding out what was actually around there, because I didn't really know.

Then, we went to karaoke, which was awesome because A) we are awesome, but B) I had made Lisa watch the Kyuushuu summer special from GeI (I MISS YOU, GeI!!!) because I had just recently seen it myself and it's seriously one of the funniest episodes I've ever seen. Maybe even beating out Nagano's license. I have not seen V6's debut concert (although I have heard tell), but at one point in the episode they reference it. Apparently, Sakamoto just randomly yelled "MAAAAAAAAADE IIIIIIIIIIN JAPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN" at some point in "Made in Japan," so Ken, Nagano and Inocchi start yelling "MAAAAAAAAADE IIIIIIIIIIN JAPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN" to mock him when they play the song on this trip.

So Lisa and I sang "Made in Japan", and, having not seen CONCERT FOR THE PEOPLE, yelled "MAAAAAAAAADE IIIIIIIIIIN JAPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN" at every opportunity since we didn't know where in the song he did it.

I think it may have to become one of our karaoke standbys. Even as we were looking over our shoulders to make sure the people weren't going to come and tell us we were bothering the other customers.

Speaking of, thank you to everyone who answered my poll about what to do for the KHK Kouhaku (EXCEPT ALL OF YOU WHO WANT ME TO DIE. I SEE HOW IT IS.) I was really leaning towards "Step and Go," especially after I found out that there were some teachers willing to back me up in dancing, but in actually going to karaoke and singing this weekend... I think I finally figured out how to make the best performance, which is by performing (don't laugh at me, I'm slow :/), and I think I can *perform* best to "Dakishimete TONIGHT," so that's what I'm going to go with. Now I just have to choreograph a dance I can actually do. And, I suppose, try and become flexible so I can kick up to my chin D:

Two pictures!

Geki/Gao and Shinken (no spoilers) )

Naturally, it was kind of awkward when my co-worker asked to see my drawings and I realized I only had pictures of poly wedding ceremonies. I HOPE YOU APPRECIATE IT, YOU GUYS.
capncosmo: Clueless (Default)
So, I was thinking about it, and I feel like the 16th ShinkenGreen was totally Chiaki's grandmother, and she was totally a crazy protesting hippie (molotov cocktails useful in fighting Gedoushuu!) before she had to quit to do the whole samurai thing. And because she wasn't there the protests failed and THAT is why a whole generation were disillusioned come 1970. GEDOUSHUU *shakes fist*

Also, given my friends list I don't think this should be a problem, but does anyone have any Pink/Yellow caps lying around. Any series will do! :Db

And ummmmmmm. Yeah! Art post to follow.
capncosmo: Clueless (Default)
Dear Toei,

You couldn't release the Shinkenger movie on DVD two weeks earlier? It's really cruel of you to leave us in limbo like this :/

No love,

So in conclusion:
Sensei: (in Japanese) This is the Godaime (5th Generation head) of the Ohara School of Ikebana. *shows picture*
Lisa: ...The Godaime is pretty hot.
Me: *dying*
Sensei: ???
Lisa: You don't have to tell her I said that.

So remember how I mentioned I have this bad habit of when I go to the store and I can't find the book I'm looking for, I buy other (inevitably more expensive) books to keep myself from being sad?

...I have a feeling my scanner and I just made some new best friends.

Spoilers for the end of Shinkenger )
capncosmo: Clueless (Default)
So remember how I mentioned in the post before this how I always stare sadly at the bookshelves but they never have Hero Vision?

And, in the spread for Shinken vs. Go-On...
Me: *points to picture* See, I told you he thinks everyone in the world is his girlfriend.
Lisa: *eyebrows lost above hairline*
Me: ...You didn't believe me until just now, did you?

Anyway, most of my life recently has been spent on ~video letter~, which I got completely edited, mailed, EVERYTHING today :Dv Which means I can enjoy tomorrow's movie guilt free.

ALSO, d'you know how people have irrational crushes on things? I will confess: I have one on Joe Biden and his love of trains. ♥

Lalalaaaaaaaa I haven't posted anything in EVER.

Happy January Birthdays?

I also went to Nagano this weekend, which means ONE PREFECTURE LEFT. I'm excited. Especially because I will get to LOOK UP AND SEE MOUNT FUJI.

And ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Oh, yeah, I bought the Shinken photobook/Double Character book because I am WEAK. (More because I want Hero/Heroine Vision and I can never find it so I buy other things to pull me out of my depression). Does anyone know if they've been translated? Because man, there are some short interviews at the back that would take me ten second and would bring the lolz. (Although, Shogo's handwriting is kind of illegible maybe I should reconsider that)

Yay Asexual fandom!

And Hello, New V6 friends! I would make cheesy V6 jokes since I just went to Nagano, but I kind of used them all while I was up there (^^;)

So! Why am I bumming around on the internet when I supposed to be in Okinawa? GOOD QUESTION. Mostly because my hotel doesn't have internet OR TV Asahi, so I came to the net cafe to scope it out for when I get up at buttcrack AM tomorrow to come here and d\l keyhole D:

No, but,! Honestly, I'm a little frustrated by the WEATHER, but other then that :Db Although, my travel time was way too long D: I *did* start reading the Decade/Double Movie Photobook I bought for the trip home from Kobe and then stupidly kuroneko'd back to Tochigi (doh) which was good. Inoue Masa...hiro? Tsukasa's actor's interview was HILARIOUS because his feelings on Decade match up, like, exactly with mine. Not even kidding, he had a whole thing about how Decade was a show made for express purpose of "betraying your expectations" (which makes Kaito pretty meta, now that I think about it). His is the only Decade interview I read so far (I've only gotten through 4 total...), but it kind of makes me want to ~translate~ them now (orz). To that end, does anyone have any links to footage of the Decade/W casts being themselves? It's just, it's hard to translate someone if you've never heard their voice :/

I also totally missed Sawai Miyuu (Usagi in PGSM) was in the movie! I read both her and *mumble* Asuka's, because as guests, their interviews were shorter. I also read Kiriyama Ren's, which REALLY makes me want to translate the book, because... you know how usually interviews are kind of vague about the plot or the scenes or the lines of the movie? NOT THIS INTERVIEW, NO SIR. Hilarity.

Anyway, we finally landed and I could enjoy EVEN TODAY, IN 1985, some A&W root beer. \o/

Actual convo from training to illustrate why this is exciting:
Me: I am so excited to go to A&W!
Chad: For the food...?
Me: No, for the root beer.
Chad: You can get root beer at [store]. Every time I go I buy them out.
Me: *just looks at him*
Chad: Oh. Sorry.

I also like how the Yui Rail plays all those jingle-type Okinawan songs, it's so happy :D

And... I watched Blade 2-3, but I still don't follow it well, although I do have the characters sorted out at least. (It helps that I already know their names from everyone talking about them, I suppose.)

In closing: Hikaru Genji song covered by Hey!Say!JUMP: okay or NO MAN HAVE YOU NO DIGNITY?

I want you to know, this totally counts for 2009, I was just momentarily distracted from *posting* it by all the sequins. Then again, it just barely counts, so that's why it's all so short and lame I am never asking for interesting prompts again *weeps*

And finally, for [ profile] beckerbell... This is one of those things that is a great *concept* but not such a great fic. Here's a snippet anyway:

First, before I forget! Everyone who asked for my address should now have access to my where to find me post. I still have 9 cards left, by the way *hinthint*

Second, let's play a game! Which character type do *you* think Takeru fits best?
1. Kuudere 2. Defrosting Ice Queen 3. The Woman Wearing The Queenly Mask

Yes, I am aware they are all mainly female archetypes; it is not my fault Takeru is written the way he is.

The game is actually for me to see how many of you I can lure into TV Tropes Wiki, so leave a comment expressing your outrage, please :Db

Third: If you read my post titles you are often confused you may have noticed a recent one asking [ profile] vintage_belle to write a fic idea we had discussed. AND SHE DID. GO GO GO. For someone who has only seen, like, two full episodes, she's suprisingly easy to get fic out of :D:D:D

Finally, in other Shinkenger fanwork news, I have a present for you~ Please bear in mind my scanner was "trying to hold my digital camera really still," but I cleaned up as best I could. And was then lazy with coloring :Db P.S. If anyone knows how to make Genta more Gold and less Goldenrod, please tell me, I would appreciate it.

Reaction to Ep. 42 (no spoilers) )
capncosmo: Clueless (Default)
So I read the two recaps of the KR movie(s) linked here (warning: there are a few factual errors in those (well, mostly the 4chan one), but then, I don't know ANYTHING's name, so.), and I find it SUPER INTERESTING that my recap of the movie and those two read COMPLETELY DIFFERENTLY. Not to give anything away, but most of the emotional line of the story was glossed over or absent, and there was no specific mention of the events that made me, like, swoon at the beginning of Begins Night.

I guess I am a girl after all?

I suggest if you only read mine, you should read those too (or at least Igadevil's) because they give a much better picture of the action bits of the story.

I just realized I forgot (and they did too) to mention the monster in yellow boots. lololololololol yellow boots. This is why I took notes, so as not to forget HILARIOUS things like that.

Um, also the ad for a company whose slogan is: We solve any ploblem!

So, I was nearly late for the test yesterday, because getting up to leave 10 minutes in advance, I somehow missed the train (????) and had to take the next one. Anyway, I think I might have a chance of passing the jun-4-kyuu, but NO WAY on the 4-kyuu. Mostly because you need to pass both sections to pass the test, and for 4-kyuu I seriously had no idea WHAT they were saying at ALL in the listening section. Oh well, I didn't exactly expect to pass given how I can't speak Chinese, but. Now, it's just the JLPT!

Anyway, to halfway-celebrate my tepid results, I went to the bookstore in the station to look for a cool magazine. Except... The train ones were cool and all, but they were pretty thin, and there's no way I could begin to pick an idol/TV magazine, and they appear not to carry Hero/Heroine Vision (;_;), so I ended up with Terebi-kun. Which, despite being SUPREMELY EMBARRASSING to buy, was at least a really easy read :Db It also came with a kit to make my own Ushi Origami :Db

The thing that sticks out most in my mind (other than Double's Christmas tree lololololol) was, there was a SECRETS book that gave all the stats for Double's various forms, and... Just thinking about it logically, wouldn't you think that Cyclone would be the lightest memory? And yet it is apparently Luna. This makes NO SENSE, because wouldn't Luna have to be made of super dense particles to stretch like that? I mean, come on.

I am also still unclear as to what Joker's power is supposed to be. The magazine was like "HEY DO YOU KNOW WHAT'S AWESOME? CYCLONE/HEAT/TRIGGER/METAL/LUNA!" and didn't touch on what exactly Joker is supposed to be at all.

And now to :< over my family making fun of how I can't spell/remember people's names.
capncosmo: Clueless (Default)
So, one of the first things I heard when I got to Japan, in a conversation about what things you probably should get your family to send you, was about how horrible Japanese maxi-pads are. (Yes, this is what I'll be talking about until the cut, you know how to scroll if you're that much of a wuss.) I had never had to use them before (I brought my own in '04), so I believed her as she went one about how many centimeters they were and how that was unbelievable (My thoughts at the time: 23 centimeters? That's as long as.... a ruler? ???), because they came up to, like, your belly button. Or perhaps she said "navel." The point is, I had enough to last for a while, so I filed away the information and figured I'd ask my parents to mail me more (they're light enough).

And then... Okay, I know I should be ashamed that I'm 22 and yet after 10 years I still don't know my own cycle... but I don't. So I had an unfortunate incident in Aomori this summer where I found myself completely unprepared and was forced to brave the convenience store. (Aside: The convenience store always puts it in a brown paper bag for you, but just that, so EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT IT IS ANYWAY. Geez, Japan.) Now, I'm not going to lie that Japanese pads don't seem... modern, to me. American pads are like, idek, plastic? Or something? While these things are cotton(-y). But they worked okay, and so I wondered just what, exactly, they had done to make my co-worker hate then so.

BUT THEN. MY FRIENDS. I have a very bad problem with leaks (I apparently do not move in ways a human being should). And aside from learning new and interesting ways to get blood out of fabric, it makes me hate my uterus even more than just plain why-are-you bleeding hate, or my normal low-levels of hate. It did not help why my parents perplexingly sent me only regular length pads but long panty liners (what? Why do they even make long panty liners?). So I was forced to the convenience store again, and that's when I found them. An inch thick out of the package, 36 centimeters (that's 14 inches) long with airbags and two sets of wings. Last night, for the first night in ten years, I was able go to sleep the day I got my period and not have to scrub my sheets the next day.

Thank you, Japan. I shall be stuffing a suitcase full of your maxi-pads when I go home.

And now, for people who don't care about my moral victories, thoughts on W and its Japanese fandom (and also Shinken and maybe some other riders too) )

And now to figure out if I actually can watch W and still make it on time tomorrow morning (I'm pretty sure I can, as long as stupid Ohayou Tochigi isn't coming through right then.)
capncosmo: Clueless (Default)
So I thought --THOUGHT-- everyone had collectedly decided to wait the OHMIGOSH 2.5 WHOLE DAYS for Shinkenger to air before trying to have any more of this talking at cross-purposes about who is allowed to hit whom when. And now I want to tear my hair out. So you know what? I have barely any friends left in this fandom, how about you all flame ME so you can STOP DESTROYING THE PEACE. JUST GET ALONG, GEEZ.

Now I will anger you )
